How to remove the fuel tank on a 2000 CBR-600 F4

Time required: about 5-10 minutes
Level of difficulty: Easy, with warnings
Tools needed: 8mm socket, 12mm socket, wrench, phillips screwdriver and possibly some pliers.
I am not responsible for any damage caused by these instructions. Proceed at your own risk. I do my best to make sure they are accurate. Always wear the proper safety gear and use common sense.

1. Take off seat

2. Unscrew the 4 screws holding on the air duct covers and take them off (the side fairing attaches by friction only to the side of the cover. Pull on the fairing while pushing toward the fuel tank on the cover and they will separate.)

3. Unbolt the 12mm bolts at the base of the tank (under where the seat would be).

4. Unbolt the 8mm bolts at the top of the tank.

5. Here is the only tricky part (steps 5-7). Pull up at the front of the tank and make sure the airbox isn't sticking to the tank. Don't pull up too high, with one hand holding the tank, disconnect the fuel level (reserve light) wires, noting which color goes to which side (brown toward center, green toward outside). In the photo they look reversed... so it may not matter which one is on which side, I don't know.

6. Disconnect the middle fuel line (breather line?).. its the one that connects to the white elbow. Leave the other line connected. This is the drain line and is not connected to anything on the other end.

7. Make sure to turn the fuel dial to OFF and disconnect the main fuel line by squeezing that clamp with your thumb and pulling it down the line. You may have to twist while your pulling and you also may have to use some pliers to break loose the line from the switch.

8. A few drops of fuel will probably come out, but barely any should. You'll know if you got the switched turned off correctly real fast. Now, carefully set the fuel tank on the ground.
